Agenda

Meeting Information:

Communication determines your success in business — and in life. Your industry reputation and every one of your business and personal relationships is determined by how you communicate: as a leader, as an executive manager, and as a C-Suite team leader.

How and what you speak, how you listen, and how you manage the conversation determines your future. However, most dentist-entrepreneurs and senior executives have inadequate training in communication techniques.

Purpose:

DEO 6 Session 2 will provide education and guidance to develop participants’ communication skills, enabling them to become effective corporate leaders. We’ll discuss:

  • The keys to effective communication
  • How to produce effective action in others
  • How to handle difficult conversations
  • How to handle conflict
  • How to establish the language of a high-performance culture

Session 2 Homework: Read these quotes and apply to your own communication style.

“Language exerts hidden power, like the moon on the tides.” — Rita Mae Brown

“Wise men speak because they have something to say; fools because they have to say something.” — Plato

“The art of communication is the language of leadership.” — James Humes

“Communication – the human connection – is the key to personal and career success.” — Paul J. Meyer

“Syllables govern the world.” — George Bernard Shaw

“The most important thing in communication is hearing what isn’t said.”
— Peter Drucker

“Trust is the glue of life. It’s the most essential ingredient in effective communication. It’s the foundational principle that holds all relationships.”
—Stephen Covey

“Words are, of course, the most powerful drug used by mankind.”
— Rudyard Kipling
