10 Things Every Dentist Entrepreneur Should Do Before 2021

2020 has been a year that will go down in history as one of the most challenging in recent decades.

It’s been hard on families, businesses, and the brave front-line medical workers.

Despite the obstacles, The DEO community has found ways to not only make it through the year, but find new avenues for success.

This year has been a blessing and a curse, but we’re not done. It is time to end this tumultuous year with some massive action.

Here are 10 things that every dentist entrepreneur should do before 2021

1. Record the Ups and Downs of 2020

Many will want to forget this year, but we’ve all learned some valuable lessons. As an industry, we had to pivot and change daily business practices to accommodate for how COVID changed the world. You’ve overcome a lot this year, and it is important to remember the challenges you faced and how you overcame them.

Take Action —- Write down a summary of your 2020 experiences in a blog, a newsletter, in your journal, or just on a Google Doc that you print out and save. Writing down what happened in 2020 will help strategize for 2021.

2. Write Down Your Goals for 2021

Once you’ve recorded what happened in 2020, now is time to think about what you want to happen in 2021. What are your goals? Don’t limit yourself to just thinking about your business goals, there has to be a balance.

Take Action —- Write down your goals. Make sure you include the goals for yourself, your team, and your business.

3. What Resolution Are You Making with Yourself?

Using the same goal document, what changes are you going to have to make in order to give yourself the best chances of success for 2021? Often, people don’t take resolutions seriously and this isn’t something you have to do, but after looking back on 2020, and now you know what your goals are, is there something you can do to improve? What can you do better?

Take Action Using the same Goal document, write down your resolutions. Pick things that you can do better, and commit to them. Putting them down on paper next to your goals is a great way to stay focused.

4. Constantly Remind Yourself

This step is simple. Just print out the document and put it in a place where you can see it often. Print out a couple of copies and hang them around where you will see your goals and resolutions daily.

Take Action —- Print out your goal document and hang it up. If you want your team to get onboard, have them do the first 4 steps as well!

5. Schedule Some Time To Read

When it comes to achieving our goals, it is always easier with a little help. We’ve put together a list of 101+ books that can help you achieve your personal goals, your leadership goals, and your business goals. Schedule some time to just sit down and read. Away from your computer, and away from your phone. Invest in yourself, by finding the time to read daily.

Take Action —- Download the 101+ Book List For Dentist Entrepreneurs and pick 12 books you want to read. Pick some for each of your goal categories. Then plan out which one you want to read first and read one a month. Go ahead and order the first one so you have it in time for the new year.

6. Find The Right Community
